Tillerson announces when US embassy will be moved to Jerusalem
The U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson announced that the U.S. embassy will be moved to Jerusalem not sooner than in three years, RIA Novosti reports citing The Times of Israel.
Tillerson said, that it’s not a thing that is going to happen at once. According to him it will take at least three years to move the Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, although this statement is, too, very ambitious.
Previously, the Minister for Jerusalem Affairs Zeev Elkin stated that it will take the United States several years to find a plot of land and build a new embassy that suits all the necessary security requirements. He expressed hope that this will happen as soon as possible.
Earlier, Trump announced the recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and ordered to move the American Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
